Coming Full Spiral

I can hear you saying, “Doesn’t he mean ‘full circle’?”
Actually no I don’t.
I have used this phrase for years and now I choose not to for a simple reason.
If we have come full circle and close the circle then we are done. Right?
Perhaps with a particular task like washing dishes or brushing our teeth though we rarely use this cliche with mundane tasks such as those.
It often describes a long and sometimes arduous journey we have traveled with a career goal, life challenge, bucket-list aspiration etc. and if we close the circle, we must have arrived back at the same place we started and are done! Right?
No we haven’t and we are far from finished. We have been profoundly changed and the circle could not possibly close at the same place it began. So there must be a gap.
That gap, no matter how wide or narrow allows the formation of…, yep you guessed it, a Spiral!
